Bartending Tips To Make You A Great Bartender
Category: Import : How to | May 14, 2010 |

If you want to be a great bartender, then you have to have the knowledge and skill that the job requires. Bartending is a very rewarding career, but it is also very demanding. A bartender must keep their customers and themselves happy with the service that they provide.
No one likes to be around a bartender who gives poor service. There are certain things that a bartender has to do to keep ahead of the game. Knowing drinks and how to prepare them is one of the most important things to learn. In this article are several bartending tips that will help you along in your quest to be a great barkeep.
One of the most important things is to know your drinks! It is very disappointing to go to a bar and realize that the bartender doesn’t know how to make your favorite cocktail! As a bartender, you should be extremely familiar with all things about bartending. There are several bartending books out there that list drink after drink.
Grab a few of them and read them whenever you have a spare moment. Use the internet as well. Knowing how to prepare a rare drink by heart is sure to make your bartending skills a hit! Know your glassware! This may seem crazy but the glass you use for your mixed drinks truly does matter. Part of the excitement of ordering a martini is getting it in the signature glass!
After you know the basics, the best bartending tips are all about the methods used to make drinks. One of these is how to accurately stir a drink before it is served. This requires a stirring spoon, or a stirring stick and a mixing glass.
You should pour your ingredients into the mixing glass and stir in a clockwise motion, slowly. After you have stirred, pour the mixture over the cold ice. Using this technique should accurately and smoothly mix drinks to your customer’s wishes.
A wonderful piece of advice for pouring a drink is about building it, and with some drinks, creating layers may be required; first with ice, then any spices, then with the alcohol. It seems so simple but even the simplest tips can create the highest level of service!
Anyone, at any stage of bartending, or anyone looking to hone a particular skill, can benefit from bartending tips. The important thing is to remain open to advice and take opportunities to improve your skills wherever they might arise.
The internet is one of the best sources for information about bartending, but bookstores, and even flair bartenders possess a wealth of knowledge that you may have never discovered before. Learning new styles of bartending, or new drinks to make, can all help you on your bartending quest.

To figure out the hight of a building you can use a combination of “Match Photo” in SketchUp and Google Earth imagery. After you have traced the photo in SketchUp, import Google Earth imagery. Measure the length of the building on Google Earth. Rescale the model using this length. You will now have a better estimation of the height.

There's no problem with bartending at a strip club. Sly Stalone made a porno….he's still a big star.
I was a cocktail waitress at a strip club (several actually) and it has never affected my job status. I think it would be a good experience. You'll probably have a uniform of some sort. You'll get to wear comfy shoes where as the servers usually have to wear heels.
I don’t have anything else to say except thank you for all the work you do in teaching digital DJing to the uneducated masses. Ignore the idiots that complain about your videos, they are impatient selfish people who can’t be bothered to watch an 8 minute video to learn some basic fundamentals OR figure it out on their own. Lots of respect for you and the rest of the team at djtechtools.
Thanks Ean, you are doing a great job !
Main thing i'd ask you is "What would stop you from calling her?". If it's just fear that might she not be that into you, don't let that stop you! Honestly it sounds like you're worried about rejection, please don't let that hold you back. What's the worst thing that could happen from you calling her? Besides, it sounds like shes really into you.
Go for it!
I am also very curious about this. I have over 80gb of music on an external harddrive that I use but hate lugging it around and would love to just have it on my laptop, sorted in the itunes music folder.
I have a 250GB Macbook pro but already have alot of other stuff on their so I’m not sure if I should just keep using an external harddrive or try to cram it all onto my laptop.
Any Suggestions?
What do you do Ean with all your music?
Thanks
I have been in this field for 18 years and understand your frustrations and commitment to the customers. First of all, hiring inexperienced bartenders can be a good thing–bad habits follow bartenders (know what I mean?!) and you can train them to be how the place is run. Every bar is ran differently. We would rather hire someone without experience. Second, your day job limits what hours you can work and they may need someone to cover all shifts. You have to remember it's somebodies business and livelihood. Keeping tabs on everything is a good way to manage a bar, as you can lose a bar in a matter of months by one bad bartender.
Above all else, do not take the decrease in tips as an insult. Keep your smile going. In these tough times, tips are suffering ALOT>(even in LA!!) Every bartender/waitress sees this. Your regulars may visit you at a new place, and you will always meet new friends. If these problems are consuming your day, it's time to go. Good Luck.
